
Pearson College is pleased to announce the appointment of Matteo Stefanel as Chair of its Board of Directors. He succeeds Lori Sterling who held the position since 2022. Stefanel brings a wealth of global leadership experience to the position along with a proven track record of financial responsibility.
“I am honored to take on the role of Board Chair at the school that shaped me as a youth and helped forge my path as an adult,” said Stefanel. “I look forward to working with the Board and leadership team to guide the organization’s mission forward building a foundation for all our future students.”
The Year 19 Pearson alum from Italy has generously given back to the College since graduating in 1994, and he returned to campus this past summer for reunions to encourage fellow alum to support the College and the movement.
As the co-founder and CEO of Apis Partners, Stefanel has guided the growth of the private equity investment management firm to over $2.0 billion in assets and the company has invested in more than 40 companies, serving 185 million customers in 179 markets. Apis Partners’ philosophy of “catalyst capital” reflects Stefanel’s dedication to generating strong private equity returns while fostering financial inclusion and social impact.
Stefanel is married (Iliyana) with three children a dog and a cat. Living in Milan, Italy he lists pretending to run as one of his favourite activities along with skiing and sailing.
Stefanel holds a BA/MA (Hons) in Philosophy, Politics, and Economics from Queens College, Oxford, and is a Fellow of The Aspen Institute’s Finance Leaders Fellowship and a member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network.
