We are pleased to share that Aileen Lee is joining the Pearson College UWC team as our new Alumni Engagement Officer. Aileen will be moving to campus with her family in August and is looking forward to hosting alumni on campus and helping the alumni community find exciting ways to connect with the UWC mission.

Originally from Toronto, Aileen was most recently the Chief Strategy Officer at the Peking University Schools Group (spanning over 12 schools across China) where she developed and scaled systems, programs, and school operations. She previously served as a Deputy Head of School, an Executive Director of College Counseling, and Head of Admissions & Development. She was the 2020 recipient of the International Association of College Admissions Counseling’s Rising Star Award and received their opportunity grant that went towards aiding refugees in Jordan to access higher education in 2021. She holds a Master of Education in Leadership and a Principal Certificate from The College of New Jersey, a Bachelor of Human Resources Management from York University, and a College Counseling Certificate from UCLA.

Aileen founded the Beijing West Consortium, a professional learning community encompassing seven public schools aimed to break barriers and promote collaborations between local educators to better support students and families. Prior to moving to China, Aileen founded NidoNeighbours, a platform that assisted international families’ transition to life in Chile. It offered a safe space for members to seek help and provide services to expatriates.

Aileen’s prior experience with not-for-profits Diabetes Canada and The Heart & Stroke Foundation led to a position at York University’s Alumni & Advancement department where she spent several years engaging with York alumni, an experience she described as humbling and inspirational. With Aileen’s engagement, York alumni were able to utilize their unique skills and networks to contribute to the diverse needs of the university and the alumni associations.

During her free time, Aileen volunteers as a Fierce Females Event Manager. She is a college counselor mentor and was recently appointed to a volunteer position in a DEI committee for an international association. Aileen currently sits on an advisory board for a program at the University of Chicago and is helping support a start-up school in Europe.

She is thrilled to be joining the Pearson team and very much looks forward to fulfilling her passion, which is bringing people together to cultivate a force for social justice, climate leadership and to make the world a better place.

In the coming months, there will be opportunities to meet with Aileen individually or in small focus groups. Please contact alumni@pearsoncollege.ca if you are interested in participating in this way and sharing your ideas and feedback about the Alumni Engagement Program at Pearson.
