Over the past year, Pearson College has proudly celebrated its 50th anniversary—a milestone that has brought together alumni, students, and friends from around the world. From gatherings like the recent Pearson College AGM to countless conversations with alumni groups, one theme consistently emerges: curiosity about what’s next for education and programming at Pearson.

We’re excited to share that, post-COVID, our Outdoor Education Program has been reinvigorated. Sailing has returned to the waterfront, diving is thriving, and we’ve introduced snorkeling to make the marine environment more accessible for students without an aquatic background. Beyond the water, students are hiking, climbing, and engaging in projects across the beautiful landscapes of the Walbran and East Sooke Park. It’s been a joy to see outdoor education flourish once again.

Our commitment to mission-centric programming remains strong. Student-led initiatives continue to be a cornerstone of life at Pearson—whether through the Gender Equity and Empowerment Club, CAR (Conversations About Race), Kelp Huggers, or Hearth community outreach addressing homelessness and the opioid crisis. These projects reflect our students’ passion for making a positive impact locally and globally.

One of our most exciting developments is Ripple, now in its second year. This program offers anti-polarization workshops for all students, equipping them with the skills to thrive in a pluralistic society and create meaningful “ripples” beyond campus. Extending this work off-campus is a key priority as we prepare students to lead with empathy and understanding.

Supporting students also means supporting the adults who guide them. We’ve integrated trauma-informed practices across campus—critical steps for an international community where many students come from challenging backgrounds. When the Council of International Schools visited for accreditation, they found that Pearson met or exceeded all their rigorous standards for student support—a testament to the dedication of our entire team.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to innovation, inclusion, and impact. Thank you to everyone who has joined us in celebrating 50 years of Pearson College. Here’s to the next chapter of empowering young leaders to make the world a better place.
