Pippa Lawson (YR 5/1980, Canada), was once a deserving student who received a full scholarship to attend Pearson College UWC.

After graduating from Pearson, she went on to become an internationally recognized privacy law expert, establishing the Canadian Internet Policy and Public Interest Clinic (CIPPIC) and shaping national conversations on technology and privacy. Since moving to the Yukon, Pippa has continued her commitment to public service and community life through leadership and volunteer roles with organizations such as the Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society, the Canadian Civil Liberties Association, and the Canadian Mental Health Association.

Reflecting on her Pearson journey and the College’s role today, Pippa shared:

“For years, I prioritized other charitable causes that I thought were more impactful than the College. But after my recent 45th reunion, seeing how the College has grown in so many positive ways, hearing from students and learning how they are now being taught critical leadership skills including how to engage in vigorous yet respectful discourse on highly polarized topics, I decided not only that I owe something to the College that gave me so much, but also that the College itself is a worthy cause, especially in these challenging times.”
