The Victoria Foundation has been a generous supporter and partner of Pearson College UWC for more than 40 years.

Now, as we work to Renew and Re-found the College for the next 50 years of scholarship and service, the Foundation has renewed its support with a grant of $25,126 to purchase new room furnishings the for East House student residence, which is scheduled for a complete overhaul this summer.

In August 2018, the team from Victoria Foundation came out to campus to tour the recently renovated McLaughlin House project. One of their tour guides that day was Pearson student Mohammad Diyaa Wael Ammori (YR 44/2019, Palestine/Lebanon), who has since been featured on their blog: https://victoriafoundation.bc.ca/guest-blog-resilience-resolution-and-renewal-at-pearson-2/

And the partnership doesn’t end there. This year, the Victoria Foundation has signed on as a sponsor of our annual One World performance and expo, and invited Pearson College UWC to become the 10th school participating in their Vital Youth program.

Through this program, a group of 10 Pearson students are allocated $2,500 annually to distribute to federally-registered charities on southern Vancouver Island. The students learn about critical issues in our community, researching potential charities and conducting interviews and on-site visits. This year, the team has identified food security in the Capital Regional District as their area of focus. Stay tuned for updates on their site visits and funding recommendations.

Thank you, Victoria Foundation, for proudly supporting Pearson College UWC and our students working and learning in the community!
