If you are like us here at Pearson College, UWC, you’ve found these past months to be unusually challenging in so many areas and you may be asking yourself how can we all better do, change and adapt — individually and collectively.
At Pearson, we felt that one of the most crucial areas we could improve would be how to better engage alumni in delivering our mission and tackling important and timely topics such as reconciliation with Indigenous peoples, decolonization, institutional and individual racism, scholarship funding, among many others.
Last December, Pearson’s Board of Directors issued a call for participants to join an Alumni Engagement Working Group (AEWG). This resulted in a team of alumni, representing cohorts from Years 1 to 42, working together from January to April 2020 to volunteer their expertise, explore new ideas and come up with recommendations on engagement.
One of the main ideas to come out of this was to conduct a survey that would help the College find out more about why and how alumni have been involved or not with Pearson, what they believe is working and what they think may not be working and how they would like to engage in the future.
Starting in the first week of July, and running through to the end of the month, the College will invite alumni to complete a short survey built on an online platform conceived by Pearson alumnus John Richardson (YR 15/1990 Canada). The survey is designed to be easy to use and ensures the privacy for all participants.
In addition to the survey, the College will be reaching out to conduct smaller online focus groups during the summer/fall of 2020. If you are interested in taking part in a focus group, please indicate this by sending an email to email@example.com to register.
The important information gathered from these outreach efforts will coincide the arrival of the College’s new President and Head Craig Davis and will provide him with valuable insights into the worldwide Pearson community and assist him in the campaign to Renew and Re-found Pearson College UWC.
Above all, this data will help develop a brand-new alumni engagement framework, one that will set out clearer pathways in which alumni to become more meaningfully involved with Pearson College UWC.
Thank you for your help in designing the future of alumni engagement at Pearson!
