How did you hear about UWC?

Four years ago as I was eating lunch at a Model UN conference, unaware that I was about to discover UWC,  I met a wonderful and smiley friend named John from Rwanda who attended Pearson along with 2 others (from Jordan and Nepal) that made up the Pearson College delegation.  I was really inspired by these international students and awed by their school.  I remember them strongly urging me to apply.

That night I looked online and fell in love with Pearson and UWC ideals.  For the following years, I had my sights set on Pearson and I'm overjoyed to be here now.

What is your favourite thing about Pearson so far?

I think my favorite thing is waking up and knowing I will get to say "Hi" to so many people I love on the way to breakfast.  The adventures here are endless and only limited to your imagination - and the best part are the people who are along for the ride.  I love the open-minded, compassionate atmosphere.

How will being at Pearson help your country?

I hope that being at Pearson will broaden my awareness about other countries and help me serve to build bridges between people.  I have renewed perspective on what it means to be Canadian, and what Canada is viewed as from afar.  I think this kind of education shapes a lifetime and the relationships it builds create a network of motivated individuals determined to create peace together.  I feel so grateful to be a part of this incredible movement.  Hoping to be a journalist in the future, I think Pearson has taught me how to understand people better and fully appreciate everyone's unique story.

What activities are you involved in?

This year I am a peer counsellor, I do yoga and I'm part of the climbing activity.  My student job is working in the student store. In the life of a Pearson student, there is never a dull moment!
