Summit Outlines

Theme
The topic of the 2010 summit is Sustainable Development, particularly relevant to the present generation after the 2009 United Nations Climate Change Conference. Participants will discuss the current situation from global viewpoints and propose solutions, taking into account the diversity of perspectives, foreign policies, and resources of their assigned countries.

Through this, participants will gain an awareness of the impact of development on the economies of a variety of countries — both wealthy (MDCs), and poor (LDCs). Participants will also negotiate proposals with the objective of diminishing human impact on the environment in light of modern economic models promoting sustainable development and ideals of corporate social responsibility.

Format
Over the course of the conference, participants will gain new knowledge regarding the multifaceted topic sustainable development. In both large groups and small groups, discussions will be facilitated with the goal of formulating proposals, and encouraging innovative thinking regarding the topic of discussion. The format is designed to stimulate high level of debate and consensus building. Further details will be included in the participant package which will be sent following registration.
