Overview of Initiative

The Pearson College Economic Summit is organized annually by students from the Lester B. Pearson United World College of the Pacific, located in Metchosin, British Columbia. The summit offers high school students from B.C. a unique opportunity: to gather together to discuss and initiate positive change regarding economic concerns of the present generation. The international and progressive nature of Pearson College brought forth by the students, who herald from 100 different countries, will bring a wide range of viewpoints and perspectives to the discussion table hence providing an enriching experience for all who attend.
The objectives of the summit are:
i. Develop an understanding of global environmental issues, initiatives, and responsibilities regarding sustainable development, from a primarily economic standpoint.
ii. Promote the exchange of perspectives on sustainable development, taking into account the relationships and responsibilities of the international community.
iii. Encourage and inspire a range of ideas and resolutions through consensus building.
iv. Raise awareness of the dynamics of allocation of the world’s resources in both developed and developing countries.
v. Provide opportunities for participants to experience the international environment of Lester B. Pearson United World College and to develop friendships with students from around the world.
All profits for the summit will be donated to Kule Foundation International.
